Divine Madness

Been reading a lot of Hellenic poetry of late especially those of Sappho, Euripides, Aeschylus and Sophocles.

Reminded me of this fact which resonates with their writing style:

The Ancient Greeks believed inspiration was a kind of divine madness,
furor poeticus (poetic frenzy) sent by the gods.”
