Propitiation of Sekhmet Rubric

Love this devotion…

The Twisted Rope

Here is the first rubric for this year’s propitiations. For January, I’ll be focusing on Sekhmet. This rite is written with the possibility of dancing for Sekhmet, or potentially playing music for Sekhmet. While I don’t think it’s necessary to do so, I have left room in the verbiage to accommodate it, since it seems to have been a big “thing” in antiquity with propitiation rites. Feel free to dance or not dance as you see fit.

Approaching the Shrine:

Come. Rise. Come to me in peace.
Come to me so that I may make Jubilation at twilight for you
with music in the evening.
Exalted is your power, O burning One, O Sated One,
O Mighty One, Powerful, Skillful of Flames,
Lady of the Sky, Mistress of the Two Lands,
O Eye of Horus, and his guide,
Lady of Eternity, Fiery One,
O Red One, whose Flame burns,

Tarot Deck Review: The Tarot of Bones

I supported the original Indiegogo funding campaign for the The Tarot of Bones which I discovered through the author Lupa on Facebook.

Designed by Lupa herself, this tarot comes boxed with a separate accompanying book.  If you chose to buy a deck, I would recommend you buy the book as a companion, due to the boxed deck not coming with any instructions or descriptions.

The images used in The Tarot of Bones are photographic in nature.  Like the name suggests, they depict bones which are animal bones arranged in various artistic symbolic ways and are accompanied by reclaimed items and things found in nature like stones, wood etc which have been enhanced by the artist.

When I received the tarot deck, I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the deck (2.75″ x 4.75″) and the quality of the card (300gsm playing card) used.  The card quality itself is superior as the cardboard is quite thick and the cards can remain sturdy without them cornering or marking when handled frequently.  The size of the cards are perfect for simple shuffling with two hands and also stored without taking up too much room.

This deck can be confused for an oracle deck, however in this instance the cards all depict major and minor arcana cards which are traditional tarot, yet I would argue in this instance the deck can be seen as both an oracle and a tarot.

This deck would be difficult for novices to use, due to not having the traditional imagery depicted in standard tarot decks, so I would either study the book which comes along with it or alternatively use it as an oracle and divine your own meaning.

If you would like a new deck or you would like to add it to your collection, this tarot is $35 for the deck on its own or $50 with the book as a set.  Those of you who are ordering outside of the USA, keep in mind the cost of international shipping is slightly more and that it will take 2-4 weeks for the deck to arrive.

Update: Lupa saw this review which I re-posted on social media and informed me that there was no instruction booklet in the boxed tarot deck due to her wanting to save paper and that the descriptions are available here for anyone to view:
